Wix Goes Into ChatGPT, Copilot and Stripe: From Builder to AI Business Platform
Wix now builds sites inside ChatGPT and Microsoft 365 Copilot, connects to NLWeb, and runs a headless backend on Stripe Projects. The builder is leaving its own editor.

Wix spent fifteen years building the best-known website editor. In 2026 it is doing something stranger and more ambitious: leaving its own editor behind. Across a run of launches, Wix has put website creation inside ChatGPT and Microsoft 365 Copilot, wired sites into NLWeb and Google's AI surfaces, and brought its headless backend to Stripe Projects. The pitch is no longer "come to Wix to build a site" — it's "build and run a site wherever you already work".
Building inside the assistant
The most direct sign is Wix's app inside ChatGPT: you can create a website from within the conversational assistant most people now reach for first. The partnership with Microsoft 365 Copilot does the same for the place knowledge workers live all day — website creation in the flow of work, not in a separate tab. The implication is that the "start a website" moment moves to wherever the user already is, instead of a marketing site they have to find.
The agentic-web layer
Underneath, Wix is plumbing sites into the agentic web:

- Wix Headless on Stripe Projects — Wix brought its headless business backend to Stripe Projects, so developers can use Wix's commerce, bookings and content engine behind a custom front end and Stripe's tooling.
Put together, the website stops being a destination and becomes a backend that can be created, managed and transacted against from multiple AI and developer surfaces.
What it means for builders and founders
For a solo founder or small dev, the practical upside is reach: a Wix-powered business can be created and surfaced inside ChatGPT and Copilot, queried by agents through NLWeb, and exposed to Google's AI booking — without you maintaining five separate integrations. Wix Harmony (the AI builder with the Aria agent and Vibe Coding) is the front door; these integrations are the doors at the back, letting the same site live in many places.
For developers specifically, Wix Headless on Stripe Projects is the notable one: you get Wix's managed backend with your own front end, which is a very different proposition from the locked-in editor Wix is known for.
The honest read
This is a platform bet, and platform bets take time to prove. Some of these surfaces (AI Mode bookings, agentic queries) are early and will change. Putting your business inside ChatGPT, Copilot and Google also means leaning harder on those gatekeepers. But the strategic logic is sound: in 2026, users increasingly start in an assistant, not on a homepage. Wix is trying to be present at that starting point rather than waiting for visitors to arrive.
